Additional luxury condos may be coming to Beacon Hill, Suffolk University has been steadily divesting its properties near the State House, as it slowly but surely shifts its campus from Beacon Hill to the Downtown Crossing area of Boston.
Last year, it sold off its Fenton Building for $15 million to a developer that intends to turn the building into luxury condos.
Now Suffolk University is selling off two more buildings, totaling 175,000 square feet, and it appears almost certain some parts of those buildings will be converted into luxury condos.

Suffolk University has plans to sell two connected properties near the Massachusetts State House in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, sources close to the deal have told the Business Journal.
Suffolk, which has faced enrollment and revenue challenges in recent years, has tapped Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE: JLL) to market the Gleason L. & Hiram J. Archer building at 20 Derne St. and the Frank J. Donahue Building at 41 Temple St. for redevelopment, sources said.
Though the buildings have separate addresses, they are connected properties spanning six stories and 175,000 square feet. A redevelopment could include residential, commercial office space or a boutique hotel, sources said.
That’s a lot of space in a crowded neighborhood like Beacon Hill.
Here’s betting much of it will be set aside for condos. How many, no one knows. But we’re potentially talking dozens of luxury condos.
